FORGOT YOU HAD A NON-COMPETE?
Sadly, not remembering you signed a contract, is not a defense to the contract.
I mean it.
You are bound by the terms whether you recall signing it or not. I know many clients who take new jobs only to receive letters threatening lawsuits. (I like to call these nasty grams)
You may be a risk taker and not mind being sued. Most people however, would prefer not to spend their money on attorney’s fees.
Solution? Keep copies of everything you sign. In fact, don’t sign anything until you understand and actually agree to the terms. And when you leave a job, get the document back out to see if you are limited by its terms.
Or, ignore everything I just said – and call us when you need to defend yourself in state court for breach of contract. We would love to help you either way.
