PLASTIC SURGERY DISCUSSED ON THE TODAY SHOW 150 150 Dan Frith

Maybe you missed it but NBC’s Today Show is running a four day story on plastic or reconstructive surgery beginning today, November 27. Download and watch the video here. The story follows a recent article in Medscape Today which reported that in 2005, there were 10.2 million cosmetic procedures performed in the United States, an increase of 11% from 2004 and 38% when compared with 2000.

As we have written in this blog before, plastic surgery is not a bad thing – just be careful that your surgeon is both trained and experienced in providing the specific type of plastic surgery you are considering. In Virginia, your first stop should be the Virginia Department of Health Professions where you can learn more about the physician’s education, licensure, and self-reported negligence claims. Also check with the American Board of Plastic Surgery to see if your doctor is sufficiently trained and accredited.
