This might sound like a bad idea…but it is not!

Most nursing homes are merely nothing more than “warehouses for the elderly.” They are under-staffed and the staff who are present are often under-trained and over-worked.

The Administrator’s main job is to increase profits and he/she does this by cutting the costs of labor (fewer nurses) and reducing other overhead expenses (like decent food).

There has been a change in Medicaid and, in appropriate situations, Medicaid may pay for at home care as this article from The New York Times discusses. In my opinion, at home care is a win-win situation.
