This morning I heard an economist say that in the next 10 years, we will see job rates increase for RN’s and home health care workers more than any other industry. Not a surprise, but it may surprise you to learn that every year, Virginia nurses lose their licenses for abuse and neglect. And what kind of people will fill these roles as the need increases?

This past fall, a male Nurse in Roanoke lost his license in Virginia after Tennessee found that he had abuse and or neglected his patients, on purpose.

You can read the Tenn. and Virginia decisions.

Read how they found he intentionally injured a patient physically or emotionally.

It is rare, but it does happen. Be sure to look up a nurse’s license before you let anyone into your home to care for a loved one.

This year, lets all agree to do what we can to prevent abuse and neglect. Don’t hire bad nurses, and make sure they don’t keep their licenses when abuse does occur.
