When you arrive at a Virginia nursing home, the staff will give you a “Admission Contract” with payment terms and other obligations.
Before you sign, spend a few moments listening to this podcast.
A couple of key terms to be aware of:
- Someone in the family will be a responsible party – for medical and financial decisions.
- There might be arbitration provision that require the family to go before a private arbitrator, not a public court of law, if something goes wrong.
- There should be a list of resident rights as required by federal and Virginia law.
