Nope…I’m not kidding.
I am a big college football fan and closely follow the Virginia Tech Hokies. I just ran across an article from a Birmingham, Alabama newspaper titled, “The Next Big Thing in contracts: Will more coaching deals include non-compete clauses?”
The article recounts the stories of several SEC football coaches who have moved from school to school and back and forth to the NFL. The article indicates that more and more colleges are considering placing non-compete clauses in their respective coaches’ contracts…even assistant coaches.
Are such contracts enforceable? Maybe…it depends on which state’s law applies and how reasonable the restrictions.
Boy…how college athletics is becoming more and more like BIG BUSINESS!
