NEW AGREEMENT / EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT – GET IT REVIEWED 150 150 Lauren Ellerman

If the bank sent you a letter that said “We are changing the terms of your 30 year mortgage so please read the attached and let us know if you agree,” you would read it, right?

You might even ask a professional to explain how the terms have changed, been modified, etc and whether the bank is even allowed to change the terms.

If your old child hood friend sent you an email that said they were missing their GI Joe man from 1977 and thought perhaps you had it, you might respond to the email.

If your Doctor sent you a letter that said your health status had changed, and you needed to now take the following 7 medications, you would read that too, I hope.

So why, why do Americans sign Employment contracts without (1) reading (2) getting professional advice (3) following up or (4) considering the impact on their lives?

This is a great mystery to me. And in a time of economic crisis, like the one we are currently facing, employers are tightening their belts, firing employees AND asking them to sign new or revised non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.

So why, why dear Americans, are you blindly signing these agreements without follow up or question?

One of the many things I don’t understand about people.

If however, you need some help with a new agreement, employment contract or change in terms, let me know. I am happy to help.
