NURSING HOME NEGLECT OVER THE HOLIDAYS 150 150 Lauren Ellerman

Did you visit a loved one over Christmas at a local nursing home?

Was it chaos? I would guess it was. Many nurses there? I doubt it. And what happened when the normal care takers were home with their families? Were sub-nurses hired and asked to provide care without any supervision or guidance?

We have seen an amazingly high rate of neglect around the holidays. I know everyone wants to be with their families, so facilities needed to prepare in advance for the week where no one wanted to work.

Was your grandmother neglected? Medicine mismanaged? Was she dropped? Did they refuse to call 911? Did they administer a medication she was not supposed to have? What about food – did your loved one choke when they accidentally gave them solid foods?

This can be an awful time for someone dependent on another for care. Let us know if we can help.
