You found us – Virginia non-compete lawyers, or, an attorney who practices in Virginia and focus our practice on non-compete advice and litigation.

But here is the kicker: we don’t work for big companies. We work for employees and small businesses; you know, the fine working men and women of the Commonwealth who are asked to sign these terrible agreements that state they will surrender their rights to make a living.

We recognize large companies’ need and right to protect their private, confidential and trade secret information. We think confidentiality agreements can be a fine idea.

But does it really help a business when all employees are prohibited from staying in the trade or profession when they leave? Does it make for happier customers? We doubt it.

I go to my hair dresser because I like him (and not the large corporation she works for). Same goes for my financial advisor. Same goes for my plumber, and the lady who watches my pets when we go out of town, and the nutritionist who helped me…you get my point. Relationships are important and frankly Mr. Corporate Owner, if you let go of an employee and I think that person is great, I will not likely stay your customer.

Enough soap box for today.

Regardless of our personal opinions on non-competes (we don’t like them) they are often enforceable in Virginia, even if you were fired, they weren’t your clients, or you never read that contract in the first place.

Please don’t sign one and if you must, call us before you decide to compete, or when you get fired etc.

Our review fee is much less then our litigation fee and I doubt anyone wants to spend the next year in Court.
