Stealing Money using the Paycheck Protection Program 150 150 Dan Frith

Remember the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) that ended back in May of 2021.  The federal-backed loan that helped businesses keep their workforce employed during the COVID-19 crisis. Qualifying business were eligible for loan forgiveness…and most loans were forgiven.

We are now learning that many unscrupulous businesses and business owners took advantage of “free money” never intending to use it to pay employees who otherwise would lost their jobs during the economic downturn during COVID.  Some dirt bags made applications using fake names and businesses.  Watch the story on the “Fleecing of America” portion of NBC News broadcast on March 28 (starts at approximately 11:32 into the program).  I imagine you will find the story as outrageous as I do.

This type of fraudulent and criminal behavior is just the type of stuff the Whistleblower Protection Act was designed to punish. If your boss or company defrauded the federal government by obtaining money through the PPP but put the funds in their pockets as opposed to paying employees…give us a call as I think we can help you and punish the “bad guys.”

Whistleblowers are key to stopping fraud and abuse.
