Modern Physician, a publication for physician executives, leaders and entrepreneurs, which reaches 24,000 healthcare professionals, conducted a survey to answer this very question. Interestingly, the public believes that doctors’ not spending sufficient time with their patients is the number one explanation for medical negligence. Physicians, when asked the same question, believe that a lack of sufficient nurses in the hospital setting was the number one cause of medical mistakes.
