This is such a scary topic for families.
No one wants to say “Mom, you need health care I cannot provide at home… lets discuss our options.”
Despite the unpleasantness of the conversation, it is a must for millions of Americans.
And when is a good time to discuss long term care options?
I love quizzes, so here is a quiz:
1. When a hospital says you need to go to a nursing home for rehab
2. When a fall takes place at home and the loved one is no longer able to live alone
3. When the person is healthy and independent but facing an age of uncertainty
4. Right now, when your loved ones start to discuss retirement.
ANSWER: 4, but 3 will do.
1 & 2 are just too late.
Dan and I will be out of business if everyone takes our advice. No really. We will have to find new work.
We hope that our advice on how to chose a nursing home in Virginia will help one or two families today, and then they won’t have to call us in a few weeks.
So here is some basic info for the day: How to select a Virginia Nursing Home.
I wish you all the best with this difficult topic and most stressful time.
