http://www.suntimes.com/business/knowles/167526,CST-FIN-health11.article Chicago Sun Times reported yesterday, that Illinois families are paying more for healthcare, and getting less. The USA Families group compared the increase in health care costs, to increase incomes – and found that health care cost were increasing at a % rate, much higher than incomes were increasing – and, to top it all off, families are not seeing better or more extensive health care.

So I challenge you – where is the money going? Doctors? I don’t think so. The word on the street is that physicians are actually making less (and this causes problems as the cost of medical school continues to increase). Are nurses making more? Well – I think you would be hard pressed to find a single survey that claims that. Yesterday I commented on a report that Medicare costs were down – and a quick search on google will show pharmaceutical companies are doing just fine, not to mention private hospitals with millions of dollars in assets. So I ask again – if the cost of healthcare is increasing, and yet the services are not – where is the money going? Sadly, not to the actual health care providers. My guess…. insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies – and corporate hospitals. In little old Roanoke Virginia, the CEO of our local hospital makes over 1 mill. a year, when the average income for the city (according to the last census) is less than $31,000 PER HOUSEHOLD!
